San Martín Department, today constituted in San Martín region, is one of the 25 regions divided up the Peruvian territory (apart from the provincial capital). Its capital is Moyobamba. San Martín department is located in the high jungle of ororiente the country. To the north and east with Loreto, on the Ucayali and Huánuco south and east to the Amazon and La Libertad. Throughout its territory is located in the Peruvian tropics
